Beyond the multiplexes, Delhi has a strong culture of free and low-cost screenings. India Habitat Centre and the India International Centre on Lodhi Road run regular film-club shows, documentaries and director retrospectives, often followed by a discussion. Cultural institutes such as Alliance Française de Delhi on Lodi Estate and other embassy-linked centres screen world cinema, frequently with English subtitles. In the cooler months, outdoor movie nights pop up on rooftops, lawns and in malls in Gurgaon and Noida, and themed anime and cult-classic nights run in cafés.
