Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri laid its foundation stone in 1965 as a memorial to Jawaharlal Nehru, and it opened in 1969; a statue of Lenin, unveiled in 1987, also stands in the grounds. For SPIC MACAY's Music in the Park, registration through the organiser's link was required for the 2026 edition, so check each listing for how to get passes. Lok Kalyan Marg (Yellow Line) is about 2 km away, so plan an auto or cab, particularly after late concerts.
