About Nehru Park
Nehru Park is a landscaped public park of roughly 80 acres in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave, near The Ashok hotel. Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri laid its foundation stone in 1965 as a memorial to Jawaharlal Nehru, and it opened in 1969; a statue of Lenin, unveiled in 1987, also stands in the grounds. Maintained by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), it is best known to concert-goers for open-air classical music. SPIC MACAY's Music in the Park evenings are held here, and the March 2026 edition featured Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Dr N. Rajam, Rakesh Chaurasia and Ulhas Kashalkar. The park has also hosted morning and evening raga concerts and an annual Bhakti festival. Outside event days it is a quiet spot for walks, picnics, jogging and morning yoga.
