Practical tips for parents
- Mind the closed days. Most museums close on Monday, Bal Bhavan and the Air Force Museum also close on Tuesday, and the zoo closes on Friday.
- ASI monuments are free for under-15s, so Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb and Red Fort cost only the adult tickets.
- Go early. Weekend crowds at the Rail Museum, the zoo and the Science Centre build after 11 am.
- Use the metro for central Delhi. Supreme Court (Blue Line) covers the Science Centre and the zoo, and ITO (Violet Line) covers the Dolls Museum and Bal Bhavan.
- Plan for bad-air days. From late October, keep an indoor backup ready. Our pollution-season indoor guide and indoor things to do page help.
