About India Habitat Centre
The India Habitat Centre (IHC) on Lodhi Road is a nine-acre campus designed by Joseph Allen Stein with Doshi and Bhalla. It opened in 1993 and houses organisations working on habitat and environment, alongside public cultural spaces. Habitat Programmes has run cultural events since 1997: dance, music, theatre, films, talks, poetry and book launches. The main venues are the Stein Auditorium, The Theatre, the open-air Amphitheatre (about 200 people), and Gulmohar and Casuarina for talks, plus the Visual Arts Gallery and Open Palm Court Gallery for exhibitions. Regular fixtures include the Habitat International Film Festival, the Habitat Film Festival, the IHC Theatre Festival, the Samanvay festival of Indian languages, IHC Lohri, an annual Holi concert and a free Book X'Change on the first Sunday of every month. Its Habitat World wing handles conferences and banquets.
Parking: Basement parking reached through the Lodhi Road gates: Gate 1 leads to the Core 4A basement, and Gate 3 serves the Convention Centre and cultural venues
Tips before you go
- Festival screenings are free but need passes: for HIFF 2026, non-members could book up to two passes per film, seating was first come, first served, and walk-ins were allowed only if seats were free.
- Late entry is strictly not allowed at IHC Theatre Festival shows. Ticketed plays are sold on BookMyShow and at the Habitat Programmes desk.
- Visitors can eat at Habitat Hub, an all-day resto-bar open 7 am to midnight, or at the Habiteria food court. MED and the Terrace Bar are only for members and their guests.
- Use the right gate: Gate 3 leads to the Convention Centre and cultural venues, and Gate 2 to the Exhibition Hall and the Margosa and Silk Cotton lawns.

Yes. Habitat Hub and the Habiteria food court are open to visitors. The other restaurants are for members and their guests.
