About Sunder Nursery
Sunder Nursery is a 90-acre heritage park beside Humayun's Tomb in Nizamuddin. The site began as a Mughal-era garden, became a plant nursery in the early 20th century to raise saplings for the new imperial capital, and was restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture with government partners before reopening as a public park in February 2018. Six 16th-century tomb-gardens on the World Heritage list stand inside, along with a lake, flower beds, an arboretum of about 300 tree species and a wilderness zone. For events, the park rents out its Garden Amphitheatre, lawns and Market Plaza, and has hosted Sufi and classical music festivals, dance and theatre programmes, candlelight concerts, storytelling festivals and tribal craft fairs. A weekend natural-lifestyle (organic) market also runs here.
Parking: Two paid parking areas inside the park (official rate: ₹100 per car for four hours on regular days, higher on Sundays and gazetted holidays) plus overflow parking at the Sabz Burj roundabout, open till 8 pm. The parking counter closes 30 minutes before the park.
Tips before you go
- Festival tickets and park entry are separate: the official site says some ticketed events don't include park entry, and on event days a regular park ticket covers only the non-ticketed areas.
- Park entry is ₹50 for Indian adults, ₹25 for children aged 5–12 and senior citizens, ₹200 for foreign nationals, and free for children under five and differently abled visitors (per the official site).
- The park is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm, with last entry around 9–9:30 pm; closures for special circumstances are announced on its social media and notice board.
- The weekly natural-lifestyle market runs on Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm in summer, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm in winter.
- Picnics and leashed dogs are allowed (clean up after your pet), and wheelchairs are lent free at the ticket counter against an original ID.
