About Indira Gandhi Arena (IG Stadium)

Indira Gandhi Arena, officially Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium and once called Indraprastha Stadium, is India's largest indoor sports arena, with about 14,350 seats. The Sports Authority of India runs it. It opened in 1982 for the indoor events of the Asian Games and was renovated for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Its 102-acre complex in Indraprastha Estate also contains the Indira Gandhi Indoor Cycling Velodrome and the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall. The arena hosted WWE live events in 2016 and 2017, the 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the BWF World Badminton Championships in August 2026. It also stages tennis, kabaddi, futsal, music shows and large political or community gatherings.
