About Haveli Dharampura
Haveli Dharampura is a restored 19th-century mansion in the lanes of Chandni Chowk, now run as a boutique heritage hotel. The owners say it was built in 1887. It had been declared a dangerous building by the municipal corporation before a conservation-led restoration that won a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Event-goers come for its regular ticketed evenings: Kathak performances in the courtyard from Friday to Sunday, followed by a chef's tasting-menu dinner; ghazal nights and live classical music with dinner; and the Old Delhi Sundowner, a rooftop high tea with kite flying and views of Jama Masjid and the Red Fort. Its in-house restaurant, Lakhori, serves Old Delhi street-food classics and Mughlai dishes, and the hotel also arranges heritage and food walks.
Tips before you go
- Book ahead: the Kathak evenings require advance booking, and the Sundowner is booked and paid for online through the haveli's website.
- The Kathak performance begins at 7:30 pm, with dinner served afterwards.
- The haveli lists Jama Masjid Police Station as its drop-off point, so expect to walk the last stretch through the narrow lanes.
- Reservations: reservations@havelidharampura.com or +91 11 4909 1777.
