Dance in Delhi today

Dance in Delhi NCR spans three worlds. The classical stage is strong: Kathak, Bharatanatyam and Odissi recitals run through the year at Kamani Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, Triveni Kala Sangam and the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, whose dance-drama Ramlila has been staged since 1957. The social scene is weekly: salsa, bachata and kizomba socials and beginner workshops run in bars, studios and hotel lounges across South Delhi and Gurgaon, and are usually open to newcomers. Then there's the festival calendar, led by Navratri, when ticketed garba and dandiya nights fill farmhouses, banquet halls and hotel lawns across the NCR for nine nights. Add contemporary dance showcases, Bollywood and hip-hop workshops and Zumba sessions, and there is something to do on most evenings.
